What GreenSign means for our hotel c/o56 Chemnitz

For us, sustainability is not a trend, but part of our approach as hosts. We operate regionally, conserve resources and are future-oriented, with measures that benefit both our guests and Chemnitz itself. In doing so, we combine ecological responsibility with the aim of ensuring our guests have a pleasant stay. GreenSign ist eines der führenden Nachhaltigkeitssiegel der Hotellerie in Europa. Seit 2023 ist das c/o56 Chemnitz mit Level 4 zertifiziert und damit offiziell als besonders ressourceneffizientes, regional verankertes und verantwortungsbewusst geführtes Hotel ausgezeichnet. Die Zertifizierung umfasst Wasser, Abfall, Mobilität, Einkauf, soziale Verantwortung und regionale Wertschöpfung, Bereiche, in denen wir kontinuierlich an Verbesserungen arbeiten.

Our carbon footprint – visibly reduced

We are continuously working to reduce our emissions – through modernised building technology, efficient ventilation and air conditioning systems (renewed in 2025), LED lighting, digital processes and conscious energy management. All these measures together contribute to significantly reducing CO₂ emissions per overnight stay and measurably improving our ecological footprint.

Lower energy consumption
We use 100 per cent green electricity and have modernised our ventilation and air conditioning technology to measurably reduce emissions.

Sustainable mobility
E-bike containers and six e-charging stations on the hotel grounds facilitate climate-friendly travel.

Sustainability only works when we work together. Our team pays attention to resource-saving processes and conscious consumption – from purchasing to housekeeping. Guests support us by checking in digitally and reusing towels. As a GreenSign Level 4 hotel, we meet high ecological standards and are continuously developing. This creates a joint contribution to a greener future in Chemnitz.

E-mobility – sustainable travel in Chemnitz

For sustainable mobility, there is a Sunshine Bikes e-bike rental station right in front of the hotel. We also currently offer six e-charging points in the underground car park, which will be expanded to nine in early 2026. Whether for business or pleasure, you can get around Chemnitz flexibly and with low emissions.

Regional value creation for Chemnitz and the surrounding area

Regional partners – valuable for us and Saxony

We consciously work with manufacturers, producers and manufacturers from Chemnitz, the Ore Mountains and the Saxony region. These include the Rößler-Hof, the Schäfer bakery, Barista Kaffee, Crottendorfer Räucherkerzen, folk art manufacturers from the Ore Mountains, Marx Bier and the Turmbrauhaus. In this way, we support short delivery routes, medium-sized businesses and local traditions.

Hotel bees – small helpers with a big impact

Our hotel's park is buzzing with life.

Several bee colonies not only provide sweet treats, but also ensure a healthy urban ecosystem. The honey produced by our hotel bees is sold at the Breakfast served and can be enjoyed in the Hotel shop c/onsum56 be acquired. With this project, we are making a small but effective contribution to preserving biodiversity in Chemnitz.

Working together against waste – our Too Good To Go initiative

Food belongs on your plate, not in the bin. That's why c/o56 Chemnitz works with Too Good To Go together. Guests and locals can use the app to purchase leftover food from our kitchen at reduced prices. This allows us to reduce waste, save resources and give good food a second chance – a contribution that has a daily impact.

The hotel's own honey factory at c/o56 Chemnitz is home to two bee colonies with 120,000 bees. Every year, our striped friends produce around 30 kg of honey per colony. Our golden c/o56 honey. Since June 2021, only regionally produced honey from our beekeeper Ms Petri has been served at our breakfast table.

Almost 98% of the water on Earth is salt water in the seas and oceans, and cannot be used as drinking water. Only 0.4% of the total water reserves on Earth serve as the basis of life for humans, animals and plants. Therefore, be MINDFUL and use this vital resource SPARINGLY.

For us, sustainability means acting in the present in such a way that the opportunities of future generations are not limited. Help us achieve our goal and join us in changing the way we look to the future.


Waste avoidance

Please avoid producing waste as much as possible. Instead, use reusable or biodegradable packaging. Every little bit helps to make a big difference! Please separate your waste and do not dispose of everything in one bin. Our housekeeping team and the environment thank you.

E-mobility

In the underground car park of our hotel, local Chemnitz electricity flows into the batteries of electric cars. We are currently the largest charging point in the city and offer our guests a sustainable additional service that all electric car owners can use.
